Some – Any (Algum/Alguns)

 

Usamos “some” em frases afirmativas e interrogativas; usamos “any” em frases negativas e interrogativas. Nunca usamos “some” em frases negativas; nunca usamos “any” em frases afirmativas.

 

Exemplos:

 

Affirmative

 

There are some extra chairs in the room.

Peter saw some good shows in New York.

He made some mistakes in spelling.

 

Interrogative

 

Are there any (some) extra chairs in the room?

Did Peter see any (some) good shows in New York?

Did he make any (some) mistakes in spelling?

 

Negative

 

There aren’t any extra chairs in the room.

Peter didn’t see any good show in New York.

He didn’t make any mistakes in spelling.

 

7) Someone/Somebody* – Anyone/Anybody** (Alguém)

 

* Someone e somebody são sinônimos.

** Estes também são sinônimos.

 

São usados da mesma forma que empregamos “some” e “any”.

 

Exemplos:

 

Affirmative

 

There is someone (somebody) at the door.

She will bring somebody (someone) with her.

There is someone (somebody) in the office.

 

Interrogative

 

Is there anyone (anybody) at the door?

Will she bring anybody (anyone) with her?

Is there anyone (anybody) in the office?

 

Negative

 

There isn’t anybody (anyone) at the door.

She won’t bring anybody (anyone) with her.

There isn’t anybody (anyone) in the Office.
